Led by Char Morett Curtiss, a true Penn State teammate, we are united in our passion to make a transformative impact on the lives of our female athletes.

Field Hockey

Char is the driving force and spokesperson behind Teammates For Life. Recently retired, Char is the longest tenured Penn State field hockey coach, three-time All-American Penn State field hockey player, 1984 Olympic bronze medalist and USA Women's National Team member.

Maribeth parlayed her Penn State journalism degree into a successful public relations and management career, providing strategic and crisis communications counsel to Fortune 500 companies, privately held enterprises and nonprofits throughout the US. She currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Variety, the Children's Charity of the Delaware Valley.

Elizabeth most recently served as Vice President of HR Global Solutions and Services for Starbucks before retiring in 2016. She is chairperson of the Personnel Committee, Board member for USA Volleyball, and a passionate Penn State alumnus. Elizabeth is active in the Seattle Chapter of the Alumni Association and mentor to Penn State's softball team.

Colleen O’Hara is a dynamic leader with a diverse background spanning real estate, sales, philanthropy, and entrepreneurship. She has developed expertise in business development, market expansion, and strategic partnerships, currently working with Philips Lighting, the world leader in lighting. In addition to her corporate success, Colleen has been a licensed real estate professional for 10 years, leveraging this experience to build wealth and navigate complex investment opportunities. Passionate about community engagement and event-driven philanthropy, she founded Phan Cave, a premier tailgating experience that redefined gameday hospitality. A two-time All-American and former Penn State lacrosse player (’99–’03), Colleen remains deeply connected to the Penn State community. She is committed to supporting fellow athletes through Teammates For Life, using her professional expertise and extensive network to further the organization’s mission of fostering lifelong connections, mentorship, and opportunities for student-athletes and alumni.

Track & Field

Brooke is a ’14 Track and Field graduate with a B.S. in Journalism from Penn State. Following graduation, she began her professional career within Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, working for the Nittany Lion Club and Varsity 'S' Club, where she supported athletic development and alumni engagement initiatives to promote student-athlete success. She now serves as the Director of the Office for Career Development in the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State, leading strategic initiatives to prepare students for professional success and fostering strong connections between students, alumni, and industry partners. A lifelong learner, Brooke earned a master's in project management and is pursuing a doctorate focusing on Sports Leadership, expanding her knowledge and expertise to better serve students. Brooke remains deeply connected to the Penn State community, both through her professional role and as a proud alumna and former student-athlete.

Basketball

Susan is the Senior Director of Advancement and Strategic Relations for Penn State Women's Basketball. As a member of the Penn State Women's Basketball team from 1988 to 1992, Susan was an All-American and Wade Trophy Winner. She is a former Head Women's Basketball Coach at Saint Francis University and Providence College, and Former Director of Athletics at Saint Francis University.

Tara is a former Penn State women's lacrosse team captain. She was previously an Assistant Lacrosse Coach and an Administrative Assistant with Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics.

Maren Walseth

Basketball

Maren Walseth is a former Penn State Women’s Basketball player and member of the 2000 Final Four team. Following a 15-year career as an assistant and head coach at the division 1 level, she is the founder of Elevating Leaders, a performance coaching, consulting, and boutique search firm. Maren can often be found at the podium, serving as an enthusiastic and informed emcee for many TFL events that bring together alumnae, community leaders and student-athletes.

Char Morett Curtiss

Char Morett Curtiss, the legendary former Penn State Field Hockey coach, is the force behind Teammates For Life. With her unique personal story, unparalleled success and passion for Penn State, Char is continuing to do what she does best: building a team and coaching them to victory. This time around, her team includes alumnae, past and present student-athletes, and the coaches of Penn State’s 14 women’s athletic teams.

With an illustrious career spanning over 39 years, Char has left an indelible mark on Penn State women’s athletics. A 1979 graduate of Penn State and All-American standout, Char became Penn State’s fifth head coach in 1987 and led the field hockey team to incredible success, including eight Big Ten regular-season titles and multiple NCAA semifinal appearances.

With her limitless energy and enthusiasm, Char’s expansive personal and professional network is the standard for fostering the deep and long-lasting relationships that embodies Teammates For Life and will empower Penn State’s next generation of women athletes.

In her role as an advisor to Penn State Athletics, Char continues to inspire generations of Penn State female athletes through Teammates For Life. Under Char’s leadership, we are creating a strong and supportive community that transcends generations and celebrates the past, present, and future of Penn State female athletes.
